Blessed or Bound? The “But” of Obedience

Aug 27, 2026    Evangelist Pastor Aaron Blaine

What happens when we understand grace, but forget obedience?

In this powerful message, Pastor Aaron brings together Deuteronomy and Galatians 4 to reveal the difference between living under the curse of disobedience and walking in the freedom that comes through Christ. Galatians reminds us that we are no longer slaves but sons and daughters, heirs of God's promises and recipients of His grace.

But there is a “but.”

Grace does not remove our responsibility to obey God. Freedom does not give us permission to continue in rebellion. Being a son means learning to hear the Father's voice, respond to His correction, and walk according to His Word.

Deuteronomy shows us the seriousness of obedience and the consequences of choosing our own way. Galatians shows us that Christ came to redeem us from bondage and bring us into sonship. These truths are not contradictory—they reveal the heart of a God who not only wants to save us, but wants to transform us.

There is a place where the Holy Spirit brings conviction—not condemnation, but correction that leads us back to God.

Pastor Aaron challenges us to examine our lives and ask:

Are we truly walking in freedom, or have we used grace as an excuse for disobedience?

God wants our obedience.

He wants our surrender.

He wants our hearts.

He wants us to respond when He corrects us.

He wants us to stop making excuses for what He has already told us to let go of.

You are not a slave—you are a son. And sons listen to their Father.

This is a call to come out of bondage, reject religious performance, receive the grace of God, and walk in the obedience, conviction, freedom, and identity He has called us to.

Grace saves us.

Conviction corrects us.

Obedience demonstrates that we belong to Him.
