3/8/26 | Shad Derozier | Altars

Mar 8, 2026    Shad Derozier

In this message, we explore the biblical significance of altars and the spiritual covenants they represent. Throughout Scripture, altars were places where heaven and earth met—where devotion, sacrifice, and allegiance were established before the spiritual realm. Drawing from Hebrews 9–10, 1 Corinthians 11, and Judges 6, we see that while God established altars as places of covenant with Him, altars have also been used throughout history to serve other spiritual powers.

This sermon challenges us to examine which altar our lives are truly connected to. What we trust, worship, and build our lives around can become an altar—and ultimately an idol. Spiritual warfare is often an altar battle of allegiance and authority, and the question becomes: which altar are you serving—YHWH or something else? Through Christ, the final and perfect sacrifice, we are invited back into true covenant with the living God.
