Midweek Encouragement - Understanding Authority
Matthew 8:8-10
The centurion said to Jesus, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes.”
He recognized the power of authority and trusted Jesus’ word without hesitation. This teaches us that God’s authority is supreme and commands our full obedience, even when we don’t see the whole picture. Our authority is given to us from God through Jesus. Saul’s failure was in ignoring God’s authority, acting on his own terms instead of submitting fully.
Reflection:
Are you trusting God’s authority and obeying His word with faith?
Faith means surrendering to God’s authority and trusting His commands completely.
